Our Bergen Ambassadors
As academics, we don’t only teach or do research, but we also organize national or international events. These events wouldn’t happen without sponsors, and one sponsor that over the past years has always contributed to our events is the City Council of Bergen! They have provided excellent venues like the hanseatic Schøtstuene, Håkonshallen or the city hall itself for mingling among attendees and meeting the major or their deputy. The city sees this as an opportunity for advertisement for Bergen, and not only focus on the “work” part of a visit to a conference or other event to Bergen, but also spread the word what a nice city we indeed have here.
While they certainly do the heavy lifting, including organising finger-food for possibly hundreds of hungry post-docs and other academics, there’s of course always some organisation required from the, well, organisers’ side of things. As a token of appreciation, for a few years now already the city council appoints those as “Bergen Ambassadors” that have hosted events in the city with the support of the city council.
From our crew, in 2023 already Violet Ka I Pun and Lars Michael Kristensen received their diploma for PetriNets 2022, and now also Volker Stolz for arranging the ECOOP’25 conference in Bergen. We from the Software Engineering research group at HVL hope that we can receive many of you also in the future at other scientific events!
